Something I don’t like (or, a potential waste of money)

I don’t really like cables that much. They look fairly neat when worn, but I don’t particularly enjoy making them, especially with tiny yarn/needles. Here we see the beginnings of Cookie A’s twisted flower socks, using Sweet Georgia yarn. I paid $6 for this pattern. Now, it is a spectacular pattern, and looks incredible while on the foot. It has detailed instructions, and charts that are easy to follow. But, it’s mostly cables. Another point against these socks is the fact that I don’t think much of this colorway. I bought it in the frenzy when I heard that Sweet Georgia wouldn’t be dying anymore, and justified the purchase by saying, “I never buy yellow/green/brown colorways, so I should try it.” Now, I don’t hate the color (and holy shit is the yarn soft and yummy), but the combination of the atypical color and irritating pattern means that I will need to find another pattern for this sock, and new yarn for the pattern . Fortunately, I already have one lined up. This whole ordeal is made more urgent because I don’t have a big project, since all I have to do is find the appropriate closures for Serrano.

Wisdom teeth are coming out next Thursday. I have two seasons of Dangermouse lined up. 🙂
